Revitalize Your Room!

The living room is the most popular room to makeover, with almost 50 per cent of people choosing to redecorate this room the most.
If your living room is in need of a bit of TLC, but you don’t have the budget or time to completely redecorate, a feature wall is a cost-effective way to add personality, without being too overpowering.
“It may seem obvious, but the importance of choosing the wall itself should not be underestimated. Pick a wall without doors or windows and if possible, with interesting architectural features. It’s best if you can pick the wall with the largest area, however you do need to take into account the shape of the room. If the space you’re planning to spruce up is narrow, picking the longest side will only accentuate this.

Looking for a bit of inspiration? Here are some of my favourite feature wall ideas

Wallpaper Go full-on fabulous with florals, striking with stripes or pretty with prints.

“With any feature wall, getting it right is a balancing act. Although the aim is for your stylish design to be a focal point, it should not dominate the room. A key trick is to include a few upholstered pieces or curtains in the accent colour. It’s also essential to choose the right design. When it comes to feature walls, bold is better, so pick paper with a large, striking or textured pattern.”

MUCH-A-DO ABOUT COLUMNS.

Plan your furniture layout around your columns.

For many homes columns can become the focal point of your space. Exterior decks are a great example of how wood, stone, stucco and brick can be creatively displayed as column wraps and outdoor furniture seating arrangements can use similar materials and colors to play off of the aesthetics. Don’t be afraid to try and plan your furniture around the columns for an enjoyable seating arrangement for guests.

LETS GET RID OF THE MYTHS

Myth 1: You have to paint your ceiling white to open up the room

While it is true that white reflects light better than any other colour in the colour spectrum, it doesn't mean that you have to only use white on your ceilings. In fact, adding colour to your ceiling can draw the eye upward and make your room feel and appear larger.

STORAGE STORAGE...

In a small space, storage is almost always at a premium and before you know it, it can get filled up with all the extra clothes you never wear and that lamp you haven't figured out how to work into the living room. But the truth is that the more you can fit behind closed doors, the more space you gain out in the open.

Small Bedrooms Ideas To Make Your Home Look Bigger

If you are looking for inspiration on how to decorate a small bedroom, it is time to have a look at practical solutions for small homes. Below are  some photos of small bedroom interiors, each of them displaying a different layout.
Keep in mind that light colours are a lot more efficient than dark hues in enhancing the feeling of space. As appealing as it might seem, a super-large bed will take up a lot of space, so a good plan is to reduce the size of the bed and fill the void with practical furniture accessories, and bring in as many mirrors as you can!

Design and Literacy.

The need to improve literacy amongst youths has been an on-going challenge in many countries, but these creative pop-up libraries are making the process of reading and learning much more accessible to the public.

Going to the library often requires individuals to have the access and means to get there, and since some people don't have the opportunity to do so, these pop-up designs are bringing all those literary resources straight to the people themselves. Reading and widening your imagination can add a lot of joy and inspiration to a person's life, and these wonderful pop-up libraries are spreading that joy to as many people as they can.

Little Free Library

Pop up libraries are starting to become more popular, and this one is currently the smallest book exchange centre in New York.  The ‘Little Free Library’ has recently popped up in Manhattan’s Nolita neighbourhood and it’s only big enough for one.

This media center was designed to create an inhabitable pop up library in which people could stop in and browse the books before borrowing one of them. The structure itself looks like a bucket on stilts.

The All-Encompassing Piece.

OpenBook by TILT, an award winning design and architecture practice based in London, England, is more than a simple seat. It is an all-encompassing piece of furniture that is perfect for offices, small spaces and more. A deep nook that provides a good sense of peacefulness and privacy, it boasts a built-in shelving unit on one side and a series of slots on the other side to hold books and magazines.

The Table +/- ......

The Table +/- by gOO arquitectos, a design studio based in Mexico and founded by Alfredo Nader Mena and Alejandro Nuñez Alfaro, is a piece of modular furniture that interlocks in a unique way. In place of common notches, two of the tables connect via negative space. This is made possible due to their G-like shape that can be flipped over in just about any direction in order to accommodate different needs and wants.

These Blandito Cushion Nests Offer Numerous Ways To Relax

If you need a reason to never leave your house again, try spending a few hours with one of these Blandito cushion nests. These all-in-one furniture solutions provide you with a plethora of comfy lounging options, depending on how cozy you want to get.

Tipi Modular Furniture Segments

From sofas to teepees, there are almost unlimited possibilities for creation with the Tipi cushions by Laure Kasiers, making them the ultimate product for those who are interested in modular furniture design.

With no creative limitations, the user can transform this series of clip-on cushions into a seat, a carpet, a backrest, an ottoman, an indoor shelter and the list goes on. The neutral grey tones with hints of mustard yellow have a pebbled effect, harking back to the days when people would construct their homes using rocks of irregular shapes and sizes.
